Getting More Life Out of Your Bakeware: A Practical Case for Refurbishment

For bakeries running high-volume lines, pans take a beating. Oil residue builds up, coatings wear thin, and eventually product starts sticking or release quality drops. The usual response is to replace the pans. Refurbishment is often the more practical option.
At IBCO, refurbishment starts with straightening: purpose-built presses and tailor-made tool dies correct dents and warping, restoring pans to their original shape wherever possible. From there, a chemical-free cleaning process strips away old coating along with built-up oil, grease and carbon.
Where needed, an anti-corrosion layer is applied before the pan is re-coated with the client's preferred finish and cured in high-temperature tunnel ovens. Broken welds are repaired to extend the pan's working life further, and finished pans are shipped back to the bakery as a complete turnkey service.
The case for refurbishing over replacing usually comes down to a few practical benefits: less production downtime from bakeware failures, reduced spend on secondary release agents, better and more consistent heat transfer, and less waste going to landfill. For bakeries managing large pan fleets across multiple sites, refurbishment also means more predictable maintenance costs instead of periodic capital outlay.
If your bakeware is starting to show its age, it's worth a conversation before you reach for the replacement budget. Get in touch with our sales team to talk through your pan fleet and what a refurbishment programme could look like for your bakery.
